Job Description

Through our partnership with ICON, we are seeking a Blender Operator in La Porte, TX 77571. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position paying $22-$25/hour. 2nd and 3rd shift available only.
JOB SUMMARY:Fills high-pressure Specialty Gas mixtures and/or pure gas products utilizing gravimetric fill techniques and Acugrav
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs all job assignments in a safe manner according to Airgas SOPs.
  • Performs all required pre-fill and post-fill inspections.
  • Blends multi component Specialty Gas mixtures using floor scales and Acugrav.
  • Performs routine maintenance on valves, scales, vacuum pumps and other blending equipment.
  • Performs forward calculations and back calculations of Specialty Gas mixes, according to area of assignment.
  • Ensures cylinder-filling records are accurately maintained and that all required procedures are followed in order to comply with local, state and federal regulations
  • Maintains inventory of blending standards and cylinders for area.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school degree or the equivalent with previous cylinder handling experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the Company.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate*** ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
