Job Description

Our partners at DVBE Connect have an immediate need for a Senior SQL Server DBA / Lead in Oakland, CA (94612).  This is a 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity with a large healthcare company, offering a flexible schedule and the target pay is $80-$100/hour.  

Job Description and Roles & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, and management of SQL Servers in multiple environments using:
  • High Availability using SQL Cluster and Always On Availability
  • Identify the best practices to implement and manage SQL Instances
  • Manage and maintain SQL instances:
  • Participate and resolve any SQL server performance issues that were reported
  • Responsible for day to day operations that includes troubleshooting for - system performance, manage and monitor SQL instances using tools such as, Idera/Redgate/SCOM etc, manage maintenance jobs
  • Lead DBA team - manage projects, job/task allocation, mentoring, training
  • Coordination with Infrastructure Team and application teams
  • Conducting POC - QL Features, Product evaluation
  • Create/Participate to systems documentation - Design, Architecture, Runbooks etc.
  • Create Management report - Weekly Status, Operational metrics, Security Audit
  • Ensure that the company information security policies are enforced


Skills Required/Mandatory
  • Excellent Communication Skills (written & spoken)
  • Experience in troubleshooting to identify the RCA and resolving performance related issues
  • Experience in implementing High Availability using SQL Cluster, Always-ON availability database groups using Sync and Async replication, Database Mirroring
  • Experience on handling very large databases and tables (> n TB)
  • Experience in using the best practices in SQL server installation and configuration, Security, SQL Hardening, Low level data access, Encryption, Auditlog
  • Database maintenance - Backup & Restore, Maintenance jobs
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Architecture and internals
  • Hands-on experience in SQL Server 2016, SQL 2012
  • Experience in installing and configuring Large Database using best practices
  • Experience in using monitoring tools and manage tickets - Idera, ServiceNow

  • critical thinking skills.
