Job Description

Our partners at Icon have an immediate need for a Payroll Manager at Invesco in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a 9-month contract position with the potential to convert. The pay rate ranges from $40-55/hour.

Job Summary:
Working in a regional payroll shared service environment, the Payroll Manager plays an integral role in execution of Tier 2 activities to provide Invesco with accurate and timely payroll as part of the Time to Pay team. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for performing and overseeing regular payroll processing tasks, ensuring all payroll documents (inputs and outputs) are received and processed accurately and on time. The Payroll Manager is responsible for auditing and analysis of the payroll, identify discrepancies, identifying risks and remediation's along with process and control improvements. The Payroll Manager will communicate with payroll customers to resolve complex payroll inquiries (Tier 2) and resolve problems in a timely fashion within established company service level agreements. The ideal candidate will be a fully-experienced subject matter payroll expert, a sole contributor, capable of completing moderately complex payroll projects and analyses. This role works under the direction of the Regional Sr Manager, Payroll.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Works within Payroll and cross-functional internal business partners (Finance and HR) to resolve Tier 2 employee payroll matters, inquiries, and problems; and to execute the Time to Pay process flawlessly
  • Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the payroll cycle, including tax, benefits, wage attachments, etc. are processed, reconciled, audited and transmitted accurately and timely
  • Produces timely and accurate gross to net processing and pay distribution
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll impacting changes, tax forms, payments and payroll processing for assigned internal business partners
  • Responsible for quality control and auditing to ensure accuracy and low error or defect percentage; corrects data as needed
  • Performs other day to day payroll processing activities or administrative duties as directed by manager/supervisor
  • Proactively manages year-end payroll auditing, validation, and approval
  • Specific Tier 2 duties performed may include but not be limited to:
  • Manages Tier 2 Payroll Case Inquiries and Tier 1 escalations
  • Ensures employee payment correction handling and re-issue of payroll payments
  • Conducts mass data change coordination
  • Maintain regional payroll vendor relationship and compliance
  • Perform year-end Employee Statement Correction
  • Conducts KPI / SLA Tracking for Country / Legal Entity
  • Manages Pay cycle Pre-processing Control Totals/Audits
  • Ensures payroll-related compliance policies and procedures are followed
  • Works with payroll Vendors to execute seamless payroll processing
  • Identifies and implements solutions for continuous payroll process improvement
  • Manages project level assignments as directed by manager
  • Trains less experienced payroll practitioners and may from time to time direct their daily work

Work Experience / Knowledge:
  • 4 - 6+ years of practical experience relating to payroll in US and Canada
  • End to end payroll experience
  • Multi-State and/or Multi-country Payroll Processing experience
  • ADP payroll experience preferred
  • Excellent payroll competency, country based benefits, and payroll taxation; and an understanding of applicable payroll legislative requirements required
  • Expert level competency in Microsoft Office (entire suite); including strong Excel skills

Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:
  • Payroll Skills: 5-8 years experience performing payroll specialist activities in US and Canada; Ideally certified in payroll (CPP or FPC)
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency with analytical tools & advanced features used for comparison/auditing of data; Technology aptitude/experience; ability to understand & recognize the value of payroll input/output data & what it says about the process
  • Cross-Functional Relationship Building: ability to work across internal functional lines to resolve problems. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve team-specific and organizational goals
  • Business Acumen: understanding of our underlying business in order to assess how to better leverage existing, new, or standardized processes
  • Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, technically, and effectively with internal and external partners; ability to listen closely and process input from others
  • Partnership: the ability to collaborate with others to understand and mitigate risks and to solve/resolve problems; action oriented

Formal Education: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • A Bachelors Degree in accounting or business and/or equivalent payroll work experience is required

License/Registration/Certification: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
