Job Description

We are in immediate need of a Reporting Analyst in Houston, TX 77046 for a 9-month contract with the possibility of extension paying $30-$36/hour.

Job Description:Seeking a Reporting Analyst in Houston, TX who will, under general supervision, prepares valuation reports, presentations, and trend analysis for various Valuation Committees, Fund Boards, Financial Reporting, and the funds’ independent auditors. Under general supervision, performs review and analysis of good faith fair value methodologies, including the research and resolution of supplied good faith fair value prices and price exceptions in a timely manner. 

Core Duties:
  • Assist in the coordination of the monthly and quarterly reporting process for securities valuation, as required by SEC regulations and Board approved pricing policies
  • Generate and analyze price exception reports and fair valuation reports for inclusion in materials presented regularly to Valuation Committees and Fund Boards; this includes the compilation and review of data incorporated into trend analysis and graphical presentations
  • Documentation, analysis and follow-up of good faith priced securities as contained in GFFV database
  • Assist in the vendor management process which includes the review, analysis and reconciliation of vendor billings and coordination of annual due diligence reviews
  • Prepare reports and answer queries relating to fund audits
  • Obtain security prices from the approved sources
  • Review variance and exception reports
  • Use secondary sources to verify price exceptions
  • Contribute to the improvement of the reporting process
  • Answer queries from TPAs, compliance specialists, auditors and Investments personnel
  • Complete special projects as required
  • Assist in the completion of all periodic reporting requirements, including metric reporting and analysis 

Work Experience:
  • Accounting and/or finance experience in the investment securities industry is preferred.
  • Should have a solid understanding of accounting and financial principles as it applies to securities valuation and various reporting requirements. 

Education/Training:A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would provide the knowledge, skills and ability required. Must be able to utilize computer equipment and software, specifically spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of market data services like Bloomberg or Reuters is a plus. 

Necessary Skills:
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals are required. 
  • Must have strong analytical skills in order to handle a variety of pricing issues including but not limited to foreign currency translations, futures, option and swap contracts and corporate actions related items. 
  • Must have the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and concentrate on detailed information. 
  • Must demonstrate initiative in actively pursuing solutions to pricing issues. 
  • Must be able to utilize computer equipment and software, specifically spreadsheet and database applications. 
  • The ability to contribute in a team environment is critical.
