Job Description

Through our partnership with ICON Consultants, we are seeking a Sr. Automation Engineer forĀ  24-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is located in San Antonio, TX and paying $50-$80+/hour.
Job Description:The Sr. Automation Engineer provides automated testing in support of software quality assurance testing and other activities related to Software Application quality.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Review Project requests and develops automation plans covering complex business functions and/or multi-system/integrated environments.
  • Develop test automation framework, automation scripts and automated test cases contributing to smoke, regression, performance, and system test suites with object oriented design principles
  • Participate in project team meetings for up-front analysis and design activities to provide testing/SQA inputs, provide feedback/advice to improve developer's unit test activities and proactively prepare automation test plans/environments in advance of code turnover.
  • Design, Develop and Integrate automated test scripts and results with Test Case Management and Defect Management software to provide accurate test metrics and test management data.
  • Support change management/release management activities with detailed information regarding dependencies or risks identified during testing and smoke test activities on newly promoted systems.
  • Provide technical assistance during software releases and production promotions.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the test and development teams on test planning, scenario development, coordination and execution.
  • Analyze business requirements to determine the range and scope of testing scenarios needed to fully exercise new or changed code.
  • Develop complete test scenarios and test cases including test steps and pass/fail criteria.
  • Execute tests, document results, and work with developers to remediate/retest.
  • Use Requirements Management, Bug Tracking and Test Management software to enter testing requirements, manage defects and track completion of test activities.
  • Adhere to privacy and confidential and proprietary company policies and procedures (i.e. HIPAA).

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent combination or experience and education

Experience & Background:
  • 5+ years' experience in test automation, computer programming/software development.
  • Experience writing automated tests for functional, regression, and integration/system testing
  • Experience analyzing complex systems and developing strategies to test such systems
  • Knowledge of source control systems and configuration management
  • Experience using SQL with regard to writing and understanding queries and procedures
  • Agile/Scrum development and Continuous Integration experience
  • Knowledge integrating automated test software with test management and defect management applications
  • Experience on multiple platforms like Web, Mainframe will be an added advantage
  • Expertise with automation tools like Test Complete or Selenium, creation of automation framework, and writing automated scripts using C#, VBScript, JScript or Delphi
  • Experience with Cucumber and Specflow is preferred

Language Skills:
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively with Associates of the organization

Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Exhibit sound and accurate judgment and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
