Job Description

Through our partnership with Modis, we are seeking a Sr. Scrum Master in Charlotte, NC for a 6-month contract paying up to $74/hour.

Role DescriptionKey leadership role responsible for guiding team/organization on use of agile/scrum practices and values, encourage self-organization, assess scrum maturity of the team, help remove impediments, facilitate discussions, decision making and conflict resolution. Supports product owner and technical lead by maintaining and facilitating backlog grooming.
Position Summary
  • Arrange for daily stand-up meetings, facilitate and schedule meetings, demo and follow local scrum ceremonies (daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective, etc.)
  • Manage and Oversee at least 2 scrum teams. Own and conduct Scrum of Scrum meetings and other cross scrum team ceremonies
  • Properly manage the backlog and aid team in determining suitable commitments for product backlog items and sprints
  • Create a positive and easy communication channel (team, product owner, stakeholders)
  • Protect the team from outside interruptions and distractions and remove impediments
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity and innovation. Mentor junior scrum master and participate in department level COE (Center of Excellence)
  • Use Jira as a tool to assist scrum team efficiency
  • Help balance the prioritization of technical debt against new feature innovation and software delivery
  • Address team dynamics, resolve conflict and resource constraints


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and
  • 3-5 years of Agile delivery experience / recent hands-on experience as a Scrum Master
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified or Professional Scrum Trainer (CST, PST)
  • Experience on software development teams with an understanding of software development and software quality disciplines
  • Strong understanding of Scrum and Kanban principles
  • Passion for leading Scrum teams to continually improve quality and delivery
  • Proficient in agile/ scrum development methodology
  • Ability to work both in a team and alone
  • Working knowledge of a leading relational database management system
